The NFL schedule was released two weeks ago. Yes, I am late on publishing this one, and the Buffalo Bills will start the season on Sunday Night Football in a rematch of their playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens. Buffalo’s strength of schedule ranks 5th easiest in 2025, based on total win percentage, and is the only team in the NFL that is currently the favorite in all 17 games.

While writing my recent key takeaways blog, I thought a few players may be on the trade block before the 2025 season kicks off. The Bills have bolstered their roster this offseason, particularly the defensive line. A few players are entering the final year of their current contracts, and players behind them are waiting for an opportunity. Buffalo also needs some cap relief, as they currently have $2.6 million in space.

It’s been a little over a week since the draft concluded, and I used that time to learn more about the 9 new members of the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo drafted five straight defenders and finished using six of their nine selections on the defensive side of the ball. The message became pretty clear with how the front office and coaching staff viewed the roster, and their plan to address it going into the 2025 season.

The grades are in! The ever important draft grades from people outside the organization made before the players ever take a snap are flowing in, and while I mock the process, I am dedicating my time to reading and reviewing them.

I like what Brandon Beane has done so far and loved the trade with Chicago that moved them up in Round 2 while also gaining a third-round pick. I anticipate him maneuvering around the board more on day 3. The Bills are entering Saturday with seven selections.

I used to be a big fan of mock drafts. Over the past few years, that passion has waned with the oversaturation of every NFL analyst feeling the need to contribute (see below). Because of that, I chose to conduct two mock drafts: one without any Bills trades and one with.

Today, I will cover the players I hope are in play when the Bills make their first-round pick, and what I predict will happen with their first-round selection. I don’t know their draft board, and I don't have access to all the medical information, so this is strictly based on what I believe the needs are for the Buffalo Bills and the players I believe fill those needs.

We are less than a week away from the NFL draft, and like most Bills fans, I am wondering what Brandon Beane has up his sleeve. Below, I will present three scenario types that I can see happening based on how the board falls and what the Bills will do with the draft capital they have.

It has been four weeks since free agency started, and we are two weeks away from the first round of the NFL Draft. I do not anticipate a lot of roster activity between now and the draft starting for the Buffalo Bills, so I feel now is a good time to reflect on what they have done over the last month.

Similar to how I broke down the defensive line and secondary additions, this blog will cover the additions to the running back and wide receiver positions. These two positions were at the bottom of my priorities list compared to the additions I felt the team needed to make on the defensive side of the ball.

Like I did with the defensive line, in this blog, I will cover the signings that the Bills made at the Cornerback and Safety positions, along with some players that are still available that Buffalo could be targeting in the second wave of free agency.

I felt the Buffalo Bills could bolster their defensive line before the draft to have more options with their early picks. After signing three free agents, two of whom are suspended for the first six games and two on one-year contracts, this position group will need more additions before the draft, on top of drafting at least one edge rusher and one tackle.

The Buffalo Bills need to make some additions in Free Agency or the draft at the cornerback and wide receiver positions. The cornerback position has some premier names available, some relatively young to hit the free agent market. Wide receiver is a position of need again as Buffalo currently has six receivers under contract, three of whom were practice squad regulars.

Buffalo’s playoff pass rush and the Philadelphia Eagles’ performance in the Super Bowl made everyone realize the same thing. The Bills need to revamp their defensive line and have a better pass rush with four. All signings are meant to be viewed independently as players I like as potential fits for the Bills.

The Buffalo Bills enter the offseason in a much better situation than they have over the past few years after the league announced a salary cap increase of $23.8 million. Buffalo is about $10 million over the cap compared to the $41 million they were last offseason, and they have 12 unrestricted free agents this year compared to the 22 they had in 2024.

I touched on a list of players drafted by the Bills last year who I believed had earned a contract extension already or would warrant one after this season. Spencer Brown received his at the start of last season, and it’s already looking like a bargain. The five other names I wrote about in that blog have not signed a new deal yet. Shakir joined Brown on Tuesday with his second contract.

Buffalo Bills running back James Cook made some headlines this week by pinning a comment on his Instagram livestream, saying, “15 mill year.” Subsequently, Cook has unfollowed the team on social media. This new move used by athletes in recent years is particularly common during contract negotiations and when the player is unhappy with how things are going.

Josh Allen capped off his historic 2024 campaign with the first MVP award of his career after edging out Lamar Jackson by 21 points in one of the most closely contested MVP races in NFL history. Allen is the third player to win the award as a member of the Buffalo Bills, the first at the quarterback position.

The offseason came earlier than any of us had hoped, and it has quickly become a rumor mill of who wants to be traded, along with some confirmed availability of big name players. Below, I will list five trade scenarios for the Bills this offseason that would all make sense based on their current needs.
